Victorian Spider Conversion Pendant
- unmarked/unsigned
- constructed out of 9k old rosy tone gold with a genuine opal and a genuine ruby
- this spider was originally set onto a very large bar pin or tie pin. The bar portion was marked '9ct'. The spider was in rough shape, so I decided to convert him into a pendant. He was partially missing 2 legs, so using the pin portion of an old 10k stick pin, my jeweller was able to replace his legs. There are notches in his other legs, no idea how or why, but that is how I found him.
- the spiders bottom features a genuine oval opal cabochon
- measures 8.3mm long x 6.1mm wide
- opal shows nearly full spectrum of colour with some green and blues, and lots of flashes of yellow, orange and red
- there is a small chip out of the bottom side of the opal cab as well as light crazing in one spot, see 3rd & 4th photos
- the spiders body is a 3mm round mixed cut genuine ruby
- the ruby has a surface reaching fracture that has fractured further and a small piece is missing out of the table
- a jump ring bale has a 4mm opening suitable for most chains
- the chain pictured is a newer, 18" 1.7mm rose gold plated sterling silver rolo chain, and can be purchased if desired
- overall great refurbished antique condition circa 1880s-1890s
- box pictured is not included with purchase
