Antique circa 1880's brooch constructed of 9ct yellow gold with and quartz. Brooch is of hollow construction and is very old. Due to it's age it has been visible wear, modifications and repairs: (1) there are some little components missing (please look closely at photos) (2) there is a crack along edge (8th photo). (3) original hinge and wire but with modern catch added (4th photo) (4) gold jump ring has been added as bale (4th & 5th photo)
Brooch features a rich brownish-orange quartz stone measuring 11.2 x 14.5 x 7.6 mm (approx. 7ct) that is bezel set at the centre of brooch, surrounded by a repoussé ornate swirl design.
No markings.
Brooch measures 4.5 cm wide x 3.5 cm long.
Weighs 7.38 grams.
