Vintage 1950s Imitation Sapphire Ring - Garnet Topped Doublet & Diamond Ring

Vintage ring circa 1950's constructed out of solid 14k yellow gold with solid white gold accents (settings) with genuine single cut diamonds and a garnet topped doublet central stone.

A garnet topped doublet is an old form of imitating gemstones, in this case a dark blue sapphire. A thin slice of garnet is adhered to a coloured glass base, which dictates the overall colour of the stone. It is only detectible under extremely close observation. The chubby oval mixed cut faux sapphire measures 4.78mm x 3.99mm with no signs of wear.

Each shoulder has an approx. 1.7mm single cut diamond bead set into a white leaf style accent.

Marked 14K inside band.

Face of ring is 5mm long and rises 5.3mm off finger.
