Trifari Ballerina Brooch
- marked 'TRIFARI DES PAT. NO. 153388' on the back of her skirt
- there is also hand scratched marks of 'NA?S' on her back
- constructed of base metal with gold and rhodium plating, rhinestones, and a faux (glass) moonstone
- this brooch was originally advertised with the name 'Vicki', female companion the the male dancer brooch 'Nicki' in the New Yorker on March 5th 1949.
- the patent was filed January 22nd, and granted April 12th 1949. Because there is a patent number, I would assume this piece was manufactured in the early 1950's.
- there is wear to the gold plating on high wear areas such as her hands and feet (please refer to photos)
- all rhinestones are intact, with 2 small round ones that are very slightly yellowed
- the rhinestones in her skirt show dark marks from some angles, and look bright from others
- brooch measures 3.7cm long x 1.9cm wide
- original catch and pin are in perfect working order
- overall great vintage condition with wear consistent with age
- box pictured is not included with purchase
