Victorian Gold Plated Micro Mosaic Dog Brooch

Micro Mosaic Dog Brooch
- unmarked/unsigned
- constructed out of white base metal with gold plating and glass
- brooch features an extra fine and highly detailed micro mosaic of a white and brown dog, with red collar, sitting on a patch of grass
- mosaic is inlaid into a cobalt blue rectangular glass, with a twisted metal frame
- NOTE: due to the age of the piece and glass being a soft material, the brooch has the following wear:
1: tiny mosaic pieces of the dogs snout are missing
2: there are small chips, or flea bites, to the bottom facet junction of the blue glass, as well as light abrasions to the surface of the glass
3: there is wear to gold plating on the back of the brooch, where the white base metal is coming through
- glass is secure in metal bezel/frame and does not move
- catch and pin are in good secure working order. They appear to be original but are more modern in fabrication, and may be a replacement. I believe the mosaic to be from the late 1800's due to the fine quality and detailed nature of the mosaic itself.
- brooch measures 2.3cm wide and 1.9cm long
- brooch is in good antique condition with wear consistent with age
